SAINT EMILION

The history of Bardet vineyards begins in 1704, on the banks of the Garonne, in the Parish of St-Brice de Vignonet, south of Saint-Emilion.

Trader in wines and cereals, Mr. Seigneriau sails on the peaceful waters of the Garonne, Gironde and Dordogne to load his barge with barrels of wine, which he then sells in the merchant ports.

The port of Vignonet becomes a major place of wine trade and an essential passage to the port of Bordeaux. While the maritime trade prospered, the Seigneriau family invested in the vineyard.

However, the arrival of the steam engine and the railroads at the end of the 19th century disrupted river trade and caused the end of the barge's activity. The Seigneriau family decided to devote themselves to their passion: the cultivation of the vine.

Respect for the terroir and a taste for transmission

In the 1920s, Mathilde Roy, granddaughter of Mr. Seigneriau, married Henri-Gabriel Bardet, wine broker and founder of Château Val d'Or Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. With the help of their only son, Roger Bardet, they acquired new plots at the end of the 1960s, where Château Pontet-Fumet was established.

Roger Bardet transmits his passion for the vine, the taste for work and the deep respect for the land to his son Philippe. In 2008, Philippe became the owner of Château Franc le Maine, still in the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation.

“A subtle blend of environmental practices and technological innovations to reveal the richness of our terroirs. "

The barge, symbol of a daring approach

In 1979, Phillipe Bardet took the helm of the family business. With the help of his wife Sylvie, they continue to write the history of the Bardet vineyards and preserve this heritage which they gradually pass on to their four children. Their two eldest sons, Paul-Arthur and Thibault Bardet, are taking over. In 2013, they bought the prestigious  Château du Paradis , in the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation.

A tribute to the history of their family, the barge becomes the emblem of the Bardet vineyards. The conquering silhouette of the barge, the sail in the wind turned towards the future, embodies their daring approach.

It was at the start of the 90s that we began to imagine “bio-regulation” practices for our ecosystem. With strict respect for the terroir, we have developed a method allowing us to control certain diseases or pests of the vine.

Thus, we have been able to regulate a significant number of pathogens inherent in the vine without the addition of products, whether synthetic or natural, and with the help of the natural management of arthropods such as spiders or spiders. insects.

With this in mind, in July 2012 we wanted to apply “bio regulation” in our cellar and therefore to our wine. With the collaboration of the microbiologist Christophe Gerland, our teams were able to develop a wine without added sulphites which results from the understanding of the work of our indigenous yeasts and bacteria by their observations and their quantifications in our wine.

La Causette Sans Sulfur therefore results from the “bio-regulation” of alcoholic and malolactic fermentation.

Shelby  Company Ltd Saint Emilion

Official wine of the Peaky Blinders series

Shelby Company Ltd Saint-Emilion

A fucking wine from the Saint Emilion appellation. We find there Merlot (72%), Cabernet Sauvignon (6%) and of course… Cabernet fucking Franc (22%) !! Dark and intense in color like Thomas' eyes; with an expressive nose of cassis and black fruits; we find in the mouth a coarse wine like Arthur but silky and well dressed like Polly. It is in the image of the Shelby family, full of character.

Château Franc le Maine brand

Silver medal at the Vinalies Nationales 2020 competition (Oenologists from France).

A Saint Emilion Grand Cru predominantly Merlot (61%) and Cabernet Franc (39%). In limited quantities, only 15 barrels were produced, exactly representing the production of our ancestor winegrowers.

A sustained and intense color; a complex nose with aromas of black fruits, liquorice and spice; an elegant and ample palate, silky tannins; the whole forming a fine, elegant, fruity, velvety wine.

We did it in the style, taste and tradition of the 1920s. If Thomas Shelby had imported this wine, he would have bought it from our great-great-grandfather Jean Roy.

Free wooden case for the purchase of 6 Grand Cru bottles.

Dirty South 2016

Red wine  St-Emilion  - Merlot, Cabernet Franc grape varieties,

Produced from historic family plots, “Dirty South” wine expresses all the diversity of our terroir. Our great-grandfather and our grandfather, knowing the best soils, planted the vines on deep sands and sands on gravel. Tradition mingles with modernity, following the explosion of the musical movements of the East Coast and the West Coast, “Dirty South” is another style of American Hip Hop. The location of our vineyard in the “South” of Saint-Emilion allows us this nod to the label inspired by albums from the 90s.

Paradise Castle

Paradise Castle

Red wine  St-Emilion Grand Cru  - Grape varieties Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon

“This is the story of a paradise, born on the banks of the Dordogne, in the commune of Vignonet, a small village located near Saint-Emilion, at the crossroads of the routes taken by the pilgrims of Saint-Jacques de Compostelle. The cross planted at the edge of the path that leads there, well symbolizes its location. A landmark for the pilgrims who undoubtedly found there, the lodging and the supper before setting out again, by the road of the Middle, towards their final destination.
A veritable 8-hectare garden of Eden, in one piece, Château du Paradis, as if deposited by magic by the river, is located on a unique location, a magnificent hillock of gravel, above the level of the river, the Dordogne, whose he takes advantage. This mixture of gravel, clay and sand carried by the river accumulates and reflects heat during the ripening of the grapes, thus promoting the concentration, complexity and aromatic finesse of the wines.
Located side by side along the Dordogne river, the house and the cellars benefit from a magical location offering a unique tranquility to this place where everyone can appreciate the relaxing and natural atmosphere. This haven of peace benefits from the softness of this “waterfront”, which acts as a moderator of excessive temperatures in summer and winter. ”

“The passion for the vineyard is part of the history of the family. With it, the strong values of work, love of the vineyard and respect for the land ensure a balance and create harmonious living conditions between the land, the plant, the environment and the man. From father to son, each in turn is initiated into this life of passion.
Paul-Arthur and Thibault Bardet, the sons of Philippe, bought Château du Paradis in 2013. Together, they embody the next generation, the new generation of Vignobles Bardet, that of a paradise rediscovered. The Château du Paradis then becomes their holy grail. Their desire is to extend the ancestral work they inherit by opening up to the latest innovations in order to perpetuate a traditional profession in modernity.
Winegrowers above all, the Bardets put all their efforts and resources at the service of the land and nature, by applying a reasoned culture, in order to reveal wines which are the reflection and the typicity of their terroir. Children of the vineyard, men in the field, managers, communicators of Generation Y, Paul-Arthur and Thibault sail in harmony to open the doors of Paradise to you, share their subtle, elegant wine, carrying a freshness that resembles them. ”
